Named gospel soloist of the year 2001...In McDonald Gospelfest at the Westbury Music Fair, Arlethia has a unique Gospel sound that combines opera Jazz overtones. she was one of the first gospel brunch artists at B.B Kings Blues Club in Times Square her CD 'God is Good' made the CD of the month in the Love Express Newspaper. Arlethia has performed with gospel groups and choirs throughout the United States and Virgin Islands. In addition, she performs as a gospel soloist at churches, nursing homes, prisons; youth rallies as well as at such noted places as the singer/songwriting duo, Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson’s Sugar Restaurant. Currently, she is a gospel performer for Music Under New York sponsored by New York Metropolitan Transit System. Television has taken notice of Arlethia's special gift of singing as she has been spotlighted on Channel 11 News, CNN Television, and NBC's Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. Arlethia has made guest appearances on the TBN Network PTL (Praise the Lord) show as well as traveled to The Grenadines, St. Vincent to appear on their national television broadcasts. Her career has brought her such international venues as performing at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall and Stamford Performing Arts Center. Arlethia was a featured artist an Bobby Jones Gospel Retreat at the MGM and Venetian Hotels in Las Vegas. She was a guest soloist at the James Cleveland Gospel Workshop of America, Minneapolis, MN. Arlethia performed 'Every Grain of Sand' on the legendary Bob Dylan's gospel DVD 'Gotta Serve Somebody' along with such legendary gospel artist such as Shirley Caesar, Dottie Peoples, Helen Baylor, Sounds of Blackness, Mighty clouds of Joy and many other great gospel artist. She has been featured in such noted newspapers such as the Love Express, the Amsterdam News, The New York times and the Daily news. She has performed locally and International in Japan, England, and looks forward to future engagements in India, Germany and Nigeria.
